DESCRIPTION

Inspectre is a Tabletop Role Playing Game where players create ghost hunters and explore a haunted hotel controlled by one Game Master. It's partially inspired by the Dungeons & Dragons Ravenloft module, but is much more condensed to two main pages, with supplemental pages for ease of play.

HOW TO PLAY

Nestled within a forest mountain, shrouded in fog, lies the HOTEL ECLIPSE. Guests of the hotel are rumored to have seen ghostly apparitions and have heard strange whispers among the dilapidated hallways. Secluded away from the world, not many check in to the hotel, but even fewer check out at the end of their stay.

ACTIONS & ROLLING

When a player attempts an Action the GM may

require a Roll pertaining to one of their stats:

Attack for resorting to violence.

Agility for moving with expertise.

Smarts for putting 2 & 2 together.

Mind for supernatural attunement.

Charisma for social situations.

Players assign a number to each stat (2, 1, 0, -1 -2) that will be added to their Roll when attempting Actions.

Resolve stands for the number of d6 dice you can Roll for any ability check. Each player starts with 3 Resolve, but when a ghost “terrifies” a player, they subtract 1 from their Resolve, reducing their chances of succeeding on future Rolls. Players can voluntarily give up 1 Resolve to automatically succeed any Roll. All players increase their Resolve by 1 when a ghost is laid to rest. If a player’s Resolve drops to 0, they succumb to the horrors of the hotel and die. If all players die, the game is lost.

Actions should be devoted to figuring out how to put ghosts to rest, and then meeting those conditions. Players should use their items to get creative, and deduce just what exactly is going on at the haunted HOTEL ECLIPSE.
